Discussion Questions:

1. When you think of the word prayer, what comes to your mind? Describe a time when God answered an important prayer in your life. How did the way God answered your prayer affect your relationship with Him?

2. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the highest, how would you rate your “prayer life”? Explain.

3. Of the list of reasons that people choose not to pray, which is most often part of your rationale?

  • We aren’t sure how to pray.

  • We get distracted while trying to pray.

  • We think our requests are too small for God.

  • We are not sure that our prayers make a difference.

4. Read Matthew 6:5-8.  What are the main things that Jesus is communicating about the way we pray?

5. Describe how you communicate with God. What ways are most effective and meaningful to you?

6. This week we talked about several things that we need to be reminded of related to our prayer lives. Which of these was the most important for you to hear and why?

When You Pray TALK TO GOD…

  • HONESTLY.

  • About EVERYTHING.

  • CONTINUALLY.

  • And then LISTEN.

7. What is the biggest issue or need in your life currently? Spend some time praying for those needs as a group.

Final thought: With your group pray God will help you develop a deeper relationship with Him through prayer. Set aside a time each day over the next week to spend time talking with God.
