Discussion Questions:

1.  In your opinion how does our culture define love?  How does this understanding of love affect the way we “do relationships”?

2. What are a couple of your life’s experiences that have had an impact on how you personally define love?  Does this affect your relationships today?

3. Read Philippians 2:1-11

  • What discoveries did you make?
  • What surprised you?
  • What gave you hope for making love last in the future?
  • Which verse stands out to you the most? Explain why.

4. This week we talked about how a “Lasting Love”…

  • Starts with God,
  • Is “Others” Focused,
  • Doesn’t keep Score &
  • Requires Humility

Which of these aspects of a lasting love challenged you the most?

5. Can you think of someone who has valued you in a “Regarding others as more important than yourselves” kind of way?  How did you feel about this?  Does this challenge/inspire you to love others in the same way?

6. What is the one relationship in which you would like to intentionally plan to love in this way?  What are some things that you can do to make this happen?

7. Read John 13:34.  How can we do a better job of following this command?

8. Finish your time together today praying that God will help you to do this.
