1. Talk briefly as a group about the difference between a “Safe Church” and a “Dangerous Church”?
2. This week I shared a Minna Canth quote:
“Christianity has been buried inside the walls of churches and secured with the shackles of dogmatism. Let it be liberated to come into the midst of us and teach us freedom, equality and love.”
How have you seen this to be true? How do you think church has “buried” Christianity? How have the “shackles of dogmatism” contributed to this?
3. This week I talked about the next 3 characteristics from Acts of the Dangerous Church.
A DANGEROUS CHURCH has…
- Unshakeable Devotion
- Consuming Focus.
- Risk-Taking Faith
4. Spend a few minutes talking about each of these three characteristics. Why do you think they are so important?
5. Read Acts 4:13 What was it that made these men stand out? What can we learn from this? What are the implications in our lives? Would you be described as someone with an “Unshakeable Devotion” to God? Why? Why not?
6. Read Matthew 22:37-39 & Matthew 28:19-20 We refer to these verses a lot because they are direct quotes from Jesus’ teaching. They also help us to know what our “Consuming Focus” is supposed to be. Can you say that this is true for your life? What can you do this week to keep this focus? It would be a good idea for you to decide as a group to memorize these verses.
7. When is the last time that you displayed a “Risk-Taking Faith”?
8. In light of all that we have been learning about the Dangerous Church what are some steps that you can take as an individual and as a group to be “Dangerous”?
9. Be sure to finish your group with a time of prayer for each other and also for our church.
