This week’s questions:
1. Pair off with someone in your group and share your story of how you ended up at Plum Creek. What are a couple of highlights from your time at Plum Creek?
2. It was Aristotle that said, “If you would understand anything, observe its beginning and its development.” When you heard all that was talked about this week during the, “State of the Church Address”, what are a couple of things that stand out in your mind?
3. It is not uncommon for organizations like churches to fall into the trap of allowing memory to overtake imagination. This typically originates personally in the hearts of the people that are part of the organization. How can you safeguard yourself from becoming complacent in your personal journey with the Lord?
4. This week I talked about several truths about church. Re-read this list and talk about the ones that stick out most in your mind. How can we safeguard ourselves and our church from becoming confused in these areas?
- Church isn’t about RELIGION! / RELATIONSHIP!
- Church isn’t about BUILDINGS / PEOPLE!
- Church isn’t FAKE / AUTHENTIC
- Church isn’t PASSIVE / It’s ACTIVE!
- Church isn’t supposed to be BORING / FUN!
- Churches AREN”T IN COMPETITION WITH EACH OTHER!!
- God wants His church to be on the OFFENSIVE!!
5. Spend a few minutes talking about how you can personally help our church accomplish our mission “Plum Creek Community Church exists to REACH our COMMUNITY and the WORLD through AUTHENTIC relationships with God and each other.”
6. Read 1Cor. 10:31. Talk about how you are doing at putting “God on Display” through the way that you live? If you are married, how would your spouse rate you here? How about your children? How about those that know you best?
7. Read 1Cor. 12:4-7. Share with the group how you are using the gifts that you have been given by God to make a difference for Him. If you haven’t taken steps to do this yet, what can you do?
8. Conclude your group by reading Eph. 3:20-21. Pray these verses for yourself, our church and our community.
